The basic skeleton of this book has potential, but the plot and dialog were so unrealistic that it was extremely frustrating. (See examples below.) The writing was also awkward at times. I stopped reading 20% of the way through.******Minor spoiler alert*******
Examples--A single woman living alone on an isolated estate sees a somewhat disheveled looking male stranger coming up her driveway. After hiding in the house, and refusing to answer his insistent, repeated doorbell ringing, she finds him looking in the window at her. After a brief conversation yelled through the closed window, she agrees to open the door to let him in (!). Before she can do so, he opens the window, enters the sunroom, and approaches close enough to invade her personal space. She makes no attempt to run or defend herself. She then carries on a conversation with him, during which he accuses her of murdering his father. He falls asleep, and she packs up all her belongings and leaves her home of the last 20 years with no clue as to where she's going or what she'll do when she gets there.

Love Will Take Me Home edition by Anita Higman Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
Weird, odd, different, interesting...something! I'm not sure what to say. Mrs. Barnes' character came out of left field and should not have been there in the first place. I guess in the writer's effort to add characters to the book, she introduced characters that were a little ... Bizarre?
Otherwise, it was ok.
The joy in reading this book was the sense that she was from long ago and he was from the present, but as they fall in love, all the longings from the past were fulfilled in the present and when everything was settled, they were able to look towards the future, knowing that they would face it together.
I liked the setting of this story and the mystery that was woven around the plot. Olivia's simplicity and wholesome innocence was refreshing and Noah was charming throughout. Very enjoyable
This was a book that kept my interest from beginning to end. I enjoyed the characters and was hooked by the personal experiences they each weave together. I recommend this one for anyone that enjoys a sweet story of characters that survive the challenges of aloneness and learn that with the strength of God they can make choices to overcome and find that love in life they deeply desire.
I wish the story was longer and more in depth. Intriguing story line with an great setting. Healing through forgiveness is can be hard to do but this story was written with such compassion that it is a good reminder to always try forgiveness.
This was a lovely book. I liked it and it was easy to read and not so terribly long with worthless details. I am not a reader of Harlequin books but this was a mixture of light romance, intrigue and a little mystery. Anyway, it brightened my time during reading it and that is more than you can say for a lot of books these days.
Thanks, Anita Higman, for writing this.
I definitely liked the way the author had the characters make decisions not on what would be normal in our culture, but rather what would be normal for people of Christian faith. This makes me relate to events with greater ease.
The characters seemed more real than the ones often encountered in books, and the fact that the plot did not assume an easy life for these awkward people was refreshing.
As to the story, I found the pace slow, almost to the point of irritatingly plodding. The descriptions of their activities could have been longer to better connect with the slowness. [Alert like what they did to change the cottage, etc.]
The basic skeleton of this book has potential, but the plot and dialog were so unrealistic that it was extremely frustrating. (See examples below.) The writing was also awkward at times. I stopped reading 20% of the way through.
