An ancient archway in time. . .

A man in search of his future in the past. . .

A woman who holds the key. . .

Maggie Hobbs has had enough of controlling men in her life. Breaking up with her longtime boyfriend, she heads to Scotland for her summer vacation, hoping to put it all behind her—though she never dreams how far behind her it will go! During a stop at a clan ceilidh, Maggie meets the man who should be heir to the Clan MacKendimen—one whose father turned his back on his heritage for a new life in America. And then Fate steps in to throw her back to a time when men controlled everything!

Alex MacKendimen returns to his father’s lands and discovers a life that could have been his. With the emptiness of his life staring back at him, he wished for another chance to find happiness and finds himself catapulted to the past – as he and a beautiful stranger face dangers together in medieval Scotland.

Thrown back through time to the medieval village of Dunnedin, the two must find a way to survive and make it back home. Neither one knew that falling in love was part of Fate's plan for them.

A LOVE THROUGH TIME is a full-length, time travel romance novel (101K words) and was previously published in print by Berkley in their Jove Time Passages line in 1998. This revised edition is being released by the author and with a new cover (6/15/12).

Publishers Weekly --
--- “Alex and Maggie, both exceptionally well-drawn adult characters, make this appealing adventure special.”

ALA Booklist --
--- “Brisbin provides plenty of humor and entertainment in this romp through time, but she sees to it that medieval life is not presented as all fun and games.”

Romantic Times Magazine --
--- “...an enjoyable read that will sweep readers away to the Scottish moors.”

Maggie Hobbs is an elementary School Teacher on vacation in Scotland. Alex MacKendimen has taken his Aunt to Scotland for a Clan gathering that occurs every five years. He and Maggie meet and travel back in time 600 years. Maggie and Alex are strangers, forced to stay together in a foreign era for their survival.

At Clan MacKendimen, Alex is the spittin' image of the Laird's son, who has been away living in England for five years. Pretending to be the Lairds son for survivals sake, (and until he and Maggie can find their way back home)...Alex and Maggie struggle through various problems and dangers that culminate in Alex being discovered as an imposter. And while Alex and Maggie struggle to survive...what has begun as "pretending" eventually begins to turn into something quite real. They fall in love.

I loved this story however there were a few loose threads (for me). For instance..Maggie is playing the role of Leman (Mistress) to Alex and considered little better than a whore and disrespected as such. Yet every Castle servant and soldier are sleeping with each other (and various others) but are not considered loose. I didn't get that. And then there's a scene where Maggie is abused and beaten to such a degree that I bawled buckets...BUCKETS! I didn't get that Alex didn't do more about the abuse. After all...if someone had beaten and abused his horse, you better know that he'd have done something about it. He OWNS Maggie...she is his property...WHY then does he not mete out punishment for her being tied down and abused?? Thirdly, I didn't quite "get" the lesson that Alex is supposed to be taught which is the reason why he and Maggie have been propelled into the 15th Century to begin with. This "lesson" that the Fates deemed him needing to learn, just didn't seem important enough to cause them both to nearly lose their lives.

Still all in all...I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and it held me captive throughout it's duration. I fell in love with the characters in spite of mildly cheesy dialogue. I liked the balance between narration and dialogue. There were touches of humor thrown in here and there. The plot was predictable but didn't detract from the enjoyment. And the message of lessons learned was a nice touch.

A Love Through Time MacKendimen Trilogy Book 1 edition by Terri Brisbin Romance eBooks Reviews

This book was so good. I had a great time reading it, wish there was more.
Terri is fast becoming one of my favorite new discovery authors. Her characters have depth, you love them or not... once you start to read her MacKendimen series you will want more, much more!
I loved the characters. Susan makes them come to life. It is easy to get lost in the story. I recommend this book to all who love Scottish romance. Enjoy your trip to Scotland!
I just couldn't finish it. The things that bugged me about the book outweighed the need to find out what happened.
I really loved the characters in this story. It was well thought out and really great. The characters were so good and the story was very good. It was well told, also. I did love the many different characters in it. The sex wasn't bad but not real HOT!
Great characters and a very good time travel story. I really enjoyed this book, great with details as well as well rounded characters.
The only disappointing thing about this series is that there are only three books. I just finished the final one after beginning the first only a few days before even though I'd sworn to only read a few chapters at a time. Oh well. Now I'm done and I'm sad to leave the MacKendimen clan behind. All three books are riveting, and the characters are so filled with energy and passion, not just in the bedroom, but in their everyday actions. In addition, all the characters are three dimensional not all the heroes are saints, and some of the villains end up being heroic. The best thing about the series is that it doesn't sugarcoat life in the 14th century. I love the fact that Maggie doesn't go back in time to play the part of a pampered princess. Instead, she sees the tough reality of women at that time. At the same time, Alex sees that life as the laird's son isn't a bed of roses. The combination of the mystical with the realistic makes this series an incredibly satisfying journey.
